In a sad development, Covid-19 attacked the warriors camp once again as four members of the Zimbabwe Warriors delegation at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tested positive for coronavirus before the team’s departure on Wednesday.

The four members who tested positive for coronavirus were forced to remain in Yaounde, Cameroon as the rest of the squad returned home yesterday.

ZIFA spokesperson, Xolisani Gwesela. yesterday confirmed the development  to The Herald saying;

“ZIFA confirms that four members of the CHAN delegation tested positive to Covid-19 and have remained quarantined in Cameroon. Meanwhile, other members of the delegation are now in the country. We wish a quick recovery to all the affected players and officials.”

This is not the first time the Warriors have found themselves in a Covid-19 crisis. Prior to the tournament, Warriors preparations for CHAN were thrown into disarray two weeks ago before the finals when a COVID-19 outbreak hit their camp with head coach Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic, 10 of his players, and four other officials testing positive for the virus.

However, after two weeks they were able to resume training for the  CHAN after the players managed to fully recover just in time for the finals.

Meanwhile, the Warriors lost all their three Group A matches against hosts Cameroon, Burkina Faso, and Mali. The Warriors were eliminated from the tournament without a single point, in what remains the worst record by a Zimbabwe team in the competition.
